Usage:
The ‘English to Assamese’ menu is pretty straightforward wherein you can lookup Assamese meaning of English words.
However, in the ‘Assamese to English’ menu, you will see two sub-menus: ‘Type in English’ & ‘Type in Assamese’.
In the ‘Type in Assamese’ menu, you would need an Assamese keyboard installed on your device to key-in Assamese Unicode characters. Please note that the app in itself doesn’t include any keyboard.
In the ‘Type in English’ menu, please key-in phonetics of the Assamese word you are searching for. For ex: if you want to search for “অসমী”, type in “oxomi” or you can just type “o” and press search to see available options. ‘XOBDO Team’ has adopted the above Phonetic Romanization Scheme to represent Assamese pronunciations in simple roman scripts. This scheme has nothing to do with how words are written in Assamese. It rather attempts to represent the colloquial Assamese pronunciation of the words in simple roman scripts. The purpose is to assist those who do not know the Assamese script.
